I recently asked a Realtor friend of mine if she knew someone who could help me decide if now was the time to buy a house or not and she put me in touch with a mortgage lender that she not only uses but trusts. I had the pleasure of discussing my situation with him in-depth and decided that just because I could get the tax credit; it is not the time for me to make that kind of commitment.
When I went back to my friend who is the Realtor and told her about our conversation she told me that was one of the things she liked best about her mortgage guy; he doesn’t have people that loose their houses because of bad decisions. I have since had two loan officers tell me I was crazy not to take advantage of the tax credit but I know that I made the right decision for me. I also know when I intend to buy a house and what I need to do to get ready, which gives me a great deal of peace when it comes to what I want and when.
